Dear A.U.eople Members:
SHUTDOWN
Effective: 6pm Sunday 7 October - 14 October 2007
The new Mandurah Line is nearly finished. When it
becomes operational, Transperth's train system will almost double in
size and reach four times the population of the existing network.
Before that can happen, we must connect the new train line with the
existing Joondalup Line.
What is happening?
To link the new Mandurah Line to the Joondalup
Line it is necessary to install, connect and test new track signalling,
electrical and communication systems. To complete the work safely,
power must be switched off throughout the work area, which will affect
services on the Fremantle and Joondalup Lines.
The shutdown is planned to take place during the
second week of the October school holidays, from 6pm on Sunday 7
October until Sunday 14 October.
How will this affect me?
Fremantle Line - No trains will operate during this period. Bus services will replace trains along the entire Fremantle Line.
Joondalup Line - On Sunday 7
October, trains will operate between Clarkson and Stirling Stations.
Train replacement buses will operate between Stirling and Perth
Stations. Last trains are 6pm from Perth and 5.22pm from Clarkson.
From Monday 8 October - Sunday 14 October, trains
will operate between Clarkson and Leederville Stations on altered
frequencies. Train replacement buses will operate between Glendalough
and Perth Stations. Some passengers may choose to remain on the train
to Leederville and then walk for the remainder of their journey.
Midland Line - Trains will run all stops to a special timetable during peak periods on weekdays.
Armadale/Thornlie Line - Trains will operate as normal.
Bus users - Transperth bus services will be more congested than usual, especially along the Fremantle Line.
Significant delays are expected on Transperth
services and on the road so please be patient. Leave home early, allow
extra travel time and plan your journey.
We appreciate your understanding during this time.
