Steps:

--- underline the key words and find relevant information

--- read the relevant sentence and get an idea for that sentence or even sentences.

--- base on the missing gap, to guess the word form of this missing word.

--- analysis all options, classify them into different word form groups.

--- base on your sentence understanding to choose a similar pattern word

--- when you decide you answer, read this sentence to see whether its fluent and well-developed or not
