$63,233 - $75,251(G05) plus 17% Superannuation

Your new role
As a Technical Officer, Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, you will provide technical instruction, support and associated services for teaching and/or research programs and play an important role in ensuring that safe practices are adhered to in laboratories, workshops and fieldwork sites.
Your role includes
In collaboration with relevant academic staff, maintain undergraduate laboratory class procedures and workbooks;
Maintenance of general and specialised laboratories and equipment, including undertaking safety checks, servicing and repair;
Support of activities, which involve pressure vessels, associated tubing and fittings for pressurised systems;
Development of Plant Risk Assessments (PRA) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP);
Conduct and ensure all staff and students participate in Safety Inductions and that Health and Safety criteria are adhered to at all times;
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all aspects of operations including safety, hazardous substances, equipment and work spaces;
Install, test, maintain, fault find, repair and monitor equipment in the area;
Troubleshoot and undertake basic and regular maintenance of equipment’s; and
Monitor and initiate ordering of materials, consumables and equipment so supplies are maintained. Participate in stock-takes.
You will bring to this role
A degree qualification relevant to Chemical and/or Petroleum Engineering; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
Demonstrated experience in handling and managing dangerous goods hazardous substances;
Demonstrated experience with chemical database software (ChemAlert);
Demonstrated experience and skills in the conduct of experiments and/or experience in the application and use of equipment and/or systems relevant to the discipline;
Demonstrated oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff and students at all levels, as well as the ability effectively communicate information and provide instruction others;
Demonstrated knowledge of, and commitment to ensuring, Occupational Safety and Health practices and regulations are followed; and
Demonstrated interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team as well as independently, with minimal supervision.
Desirable Certificates and licenses
C class driver’s license;
First Aid Certificate; and
Forklifts driver’s license.
