Who we are
HelpingMinds Limited is a highly-regarded carer support and mental health services organisation, established over 40 years ago. Our compassionate team of staff throughout the Perth metro, Darwin and WA regional areas, provide quality services and support to more than 10,000 children, youth, adults and families affected by mental illness every year.
HelpingMinds acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live, work, learn and care, and pay our respect to First Nation’s people and elders past, present and emerging.
The role
.HelpingMinds is seeking Expressions of Interest for positions on the Board to govern the organisation through an exciting period as outlined in our Strategic Plan 2018-2021
We are seeking a Director to provide strategic oversight, planning and organisational governance in relation to our services throughout WA, and with a strong proportion of our contracts including focus on engagement and service delivery with Aboriginal Communities, we are seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to join our Board of Directors to provide insight to the ongoing development and progress of the organisation to better meet the needs of the local Aboriginal communities.
Aboriginality is recognised as a genuine qualification for this Board position under 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984. To apply you must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Who are we looking for
As a committed Director with previous Governance and Board experience you will join a diverse team in campaigning and influencing those within the Mental Health sector.
This role would require an afterhours commitment of a few hours per month in meetings which are held at our Head Office in Perth, generally scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of the month commencing at 5:00pm. Most board members also sit on subcommittees which meet separately. Meetings can be attended by video conference when a Director resides outside Perth. Director positions are voluntary however sitting fees are paid to cover expenses incurred in attending meetings.
