A well established Australian organisation (choose ANY EXISTING organisation – manufacturing or service) is seeking to expand its operations internationally into Thailand.  After an in-depth analysis of the legal, political, economic, socio-cultural and technological environments of Thailand, you are required to conduct a SWOT analysis and make recommendations in a report format to the Senior Management team of the organisation on the feasibility of Thailand as a possible location for global operations.

Your assessment task is to critically analyse the Thai business environment (be as specific as possible to the industry your organisation represents) and write a concise, clear and well edited report of no more than 1,500 words, so that the Senior Management team of the organisation can easily understand your recommendations. You must remember though that this assessment is primarily about finding and using information, therefore you are required to consult and fully reference at least SIX different sources of information (e.g. book, edited book, www, journal article from the full-text databases, current affairs magazine, newspaper).  WWW references can contribute to a maximum of ONE-THIRD of the total number of reference sources utilised. The use of WIKIPEDIA online encyclopaedia is not allowed. Online academic databases such as Proquest DO NOT count as (www) internet references.  You must use the Chicago referencing system to acknowledge your sources of information (both in-text and as a reference list at the end).

The report must include the following sections: Introduction, Political Environment, Legal Environment, Economic Environment, Socio-cultural Environment, Technological Environment, SWOT Analysis (SW = internal to the organisation; OT = external to the organisation) + Recommendations and References.

All sections except the Reference list at the end are included in the 1,500 word count.
To achieve a passing grade you must satisfy the following:
1.    Information literacy skills - Use the information to build an argument, you need to state the business needs and critically analyse the foreign location (external environment). You should not give a summary of the external environment without showing relevance of the information to the organisation.
2.    Referencing – You must use in-text referencing and include a reference list.

Hints:    a. Be specific about the type of organisation you have selected and its requirements.
b. You decide what type of organisation (manufacturing or service) you want to report on.
    The organisation has to be a REAL one.
c. Conduct research specific to the industry your organisation represents.
d. Conduct a SWOT analysis based on your research. Remember S+W = internal strengths   
    and weaknesses and O+T = external opportunities and threats and make recommendations
    based on your SWOT analysis.
