WHERE AND WHEN YOU CAN TAKE THE IELTS TESTThe IELTS test
is held at Curtin University of Technology, Kent St, Bentley usually once a month. Details of the test venue are given on the confirmation letter sent to each candidate within the fortnight before the test. Candidates need to arrive by 8.30 am and to be available until approximately 5.00 pm. The test consists of four sections: Listening (approx. 40 minutes); Reading (60 minutes); Writing (60 minutes); Speaking (approx. 10-15 minutes). TEST DATES2006 test dates are: 14 January (Academic only), 21 January, 18 February (changed from 11February), 25 March, 13 & 27 May; 24 June; 8 July (new test date), 22 July, 5 August, 2 & 23 September; 14 & 28 October (new test date), 4 November, and 9 December. Please be aware that there is currently unprecedented demand for the IELTS test across Australia, and tests are being filled months in advance. Currently the earliest available tests at Curtin University are:- Academic candidates: 23 September & 14 October; General candidates: 14 & 28 October. We are not accepting registrations for candidates outside WA, as we are unable to fill the demand within our own State. Curtin University is currently the only test centre in WA.We advise all candidates to register IN PERSON at Curtin University if possible. TEST FEEThe IELTS test fee is $240, to be paid in full when registering for the test. WHICH MODULE DO I TAKE?IELTS is available in two formats – Academic and General Training. The Academic Reading and Writing Modules assess whether a candidate is ready to study or train in English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses could be based on the results of these modules. The General Training Reading and Writing Modules are not designed to test the full range of formal language skills required for academic purposes, but emphasise basic language skills in a broad social and educational context. General Training is suitable for candidates who wish to complete their secondary education in English (candidates must be 16 years or over to take the IELTS test) undertake work experience or training programs not at degree level, or for immigration purposes to Australia, Canada and New Zealand. It is the responsibility of the candidate to inform the test centre whether they wish to take the Academic or General Training module. Centres are not responsible for providing this information. RESULTSResults are available 13 days after the test date. HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE TESTHow to register: •ay for the test at the Cashier, Building 101, Curtin University of Technology, and obtain a receipt. •Bring the receipt to the IELTS Administration Centre, Department of Languages and Intercultural Education (DOLIE), Building 208 Room 129c,(opening hours 9.00am-4.45pm) •Complete an Application Form •Give the completed form (you must answer all questions) to the person at reception, with your receipt from the cashier, your valid passport and two current passport sized photos. PARKINGLimited visitor parking is available in carpark P3 (blue zone). This is a pay parking area.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDSCandidates who cancel their registration within five weeks of the test date, including those who do not appear on the test day, will only receive a refund if they could not sit the test due to illness or serious cause. Candidates must present appropriate evidence, such as a medical certificate; a $50 administration fee may apply. Candidates who cancel their registration more than five weeks before the test date will receive a refund, minus a $50 administration fee. SPECIMEN KITSIELTS specimen kits can be obtained for $40 at the IELTS Administration Centre. Please pay for the kit at the Cashier in Building 101, then collect the kit from the IELTS Administration Centre. If you wishthe kit to be posted please include $11 for postage and handling. ENQUIRY ON RESULTSAn Enquiry on Results (re-mark request) may be lodged within four weeks after the results arereceived. An IELTS Enquiry on Results form can be obtained from the IELTS Administration Centre of WA. A full re-mark, individual modules or a combination of modules all cost $176 (GST included). TISCIf you have applied or intend to apply through TISC for a university place in Western Australia and you wish your IELTS results to be send electronically to TISC, please write ‘TISC’ and your TISC application number at question 25 of the IELTS application form. CONFIRMATION LETTERA confirmation letter will be sent to all candidates within the fortnight before the test date, confirming time, date and venue, and explaining what to bring to the test.
