General Entry Requirements

English Proficiency

All international students must meet the minimum English proficiency requirements set out below:

GCE Ordinary Level English:    C6 or higher
Australian Matriculation English:    Pass
TOEFL (paper-based total):    570
TOEFL (computer-based total):    230
IELTS:    6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0)
UWA Centre for English Language Teaching Bridging course    B grade or better

For all other English language qualifications, please refer to University's official English language requirements.

Please note that higher scores are required:

    *
      for applicants from particular countries where Australian Government visa regulations require higher scores; and
    *
      for those entering particular courses, such as in the Faculty of Law.

Students with insufficient academic qualifications may be eligible to apply for a one-year Foundation Programme. Successful completion of a Foundation Programme (including passing prerequisite subjects and achieving minimum entry scores) will qualify students for admission to UWA.

Western Australian Tertiary Entrance Examination (TEE)

Students studying for the Western Australian TEE must meet the specific requirements set down for this examination. More detailed information is available in the Study at UWA 2006 booklet available from UWA's International Centre or any Western Australian high school.

Medicine and Dentistry applicants

The selection process for entry to the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery and the Bachelor of Dental Science is based on three components:

    *
      academic results;
    *
      performance in a written selection test (UMAT or ISAT); and
    *
      performance in a structured interview (in person or via telephone).
      The purpose of the interview is to consider a range of personal attributes which are considered desirable in medical practitioners, such as motivation and commitment, ability to assist and work with others, ability to think critically, ability to self-manage, and communication skills.

Application procedures vary slightly, depending on whether the applicant is residing offshore (in a country other than Australia or New Zealand) or onshore (in Australia or New Zealand) in the year 2007.
