Your part-time role
As one of Australia's largest employers, the Army has a significant public profile that requires careful management.
Applying your journalistic, PR or corporate affairs experience to this task will complement your day-to-day career and give you exciting opportunities to travel within Australia and potentially overseas.
You'll be a member of a small, dynamic team that's critical to the public perception of the Army. Some of the activities you'll be responsible for include:
• developing strategies that effectively communicate Army activities to the media,
• providing Army commanders with public affairs and issues management advice,
• preparing press releases and liaising with the media
• fulfilling escort and support duties,
• conducting media awareness training, and
• gathering and managing Army PR product such as video and imagery.
A part-time PR role with a difference, this job will take you to some amazing places while giving you the opportunity to acquire new skills in exciting environments.

Commitment
• Specialist Service Officer Course (26 days and 16 days at separate times)
• Serve between 20 and 100 days each year (at least 50 days preferred)
• Fit service around your existing work and family commitments
The Army provides special resources to help you approach your employer about your ambition to serve as a Reservist.
Location
• Training in Canberra, ACT
• Posting to an Army unit close to where you live
Pay
• Fully-paid leadership training
• Once trained, starting package $189.98 per day tax free
• Pay increases with rank and experience
Entry Requirements
• Australian Citizen
• An appropriate tertiary qualification
• At least four years of work experience in public relations, journalism, marketing or corporate communications.
Medical and fitness guidelines also apply.
