Another Curtin student bashed and robbed

4th September 2008, 7:45 WST

Another Curtin University student has been attacked and robbed, adding to string of incidents that has left several students battered and bruised and fearful for their safety.

About 2pm Monday, a 21-year-old woman was punched in the head and robbed during a brazen attack by a group of men on Walpole Street, Bentley.

Sergeant Glen Doran said the woman had been walking to the university when a group of men approached her from behind.

One of the men punched her in the head, grabbed her bag and the group ran off.

The man who attacked the woman is described as Aboriginal, in his early to mid 20s with curly black hair, wearing a black jacket and black shorts.

The incident comes after at least seven assaults and robberies around the Bentley campus over the last month, including a vicious attack on a 35-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer who was left with a broken wrist after being punched repeatedly and robbed of less than $10 and a credit card last month.

A 16-year-old teenager has been charged over the bashing.

Former student 23-year-old Simbarashe David Chimuka will appear in Perth Magistrates Court by video link on September 19 over a series of robberies on women at the university’s Belmont campus last month.

哎，现在都来明的了。。。白天也开始打劫了。。。。这些还真是防不住啊，警察人手本身就不够，加上惩罚力度完全没有，根本就阻止不了打劫。一定要学习新加坡，偷一下不是砍手指就是抽几鞭子，让他在床上躺1年半载都好。

Bentley teen threatened with kitchen knife

10th September 2008, 6:45 WST

A 19-year-old Curtin University student was threatened with a kitchen knife last night and had her hand bag snatched while she was walking through the grounds of Canning College, Bentley.

The incident took place at 7pm, less than 2km from Curtin University where a recent spate of attacks on university students walking through or near the campus has left students fearing for their safety.

The man approached the woman from behind and grabbed her wrist.

He threatened her with a knife and demanded she hand over her bag.

After she handed over her bag he pushed her to the ground and ran away via Brand Drive.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

Kensington detectives said the offender was aged between 30 to 40, of Aboriginal appearance, solid build and was wearing gloves and a black jacket.

Detectives said last night's robbery was similar to an incident on August 3, when a man was robbed by two men who were armed with a knife and demanded cigarettes from their victim.

Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
