both should be ok, if talking about staying in WA probably mining
but keep in mind that oz economy is currently tightly linked to China hence the slowing down of chinese economy is causing less needs on mining, especially after previous years booming in mining industry.
bottom line is, as long as you are top 20% student, there should be any problem finding a job.
